WHITETAIL DEER HUNTING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Where do we stay?
We stay in a small town motel, which is a 30 minute drive to the hunting area. We have stayed at this facility since 1995, and have a great working relationship with the owners. Each hunter has his own room with shower, telephone and TV. The friendly staff prepares a buffet breakfast, bag lunches and a hearty buffet dinner after the day of hunting. The motel has an attached tavern which we occasionally frequent for refreshments and the trading of hunting stories.
Q: What is the hunting method?
We hunt out of heated box blinds, some on the ground and some are elevated. Baiting is legal in Saskatchewan and our preferred hunting method. Most blinds are 100 to 160 yards from the baits. We hunt from daylight to dark and see good deer activity throughout the day.
Q: How far in advance do I have to book a hunt?
We always give our repeat clients first right of refusal for their spots for the next season. Any openings not confirmed by January 1st following the deer season will be sold by a first come first serve basis. A fifty percent deposit is required to secure a spot.
Q: How do I bring my gun into Canada?
Please click on link for the correct government forms. A fee of $25.00 Cdn. is due upon entry into the country where you will need to present these forms unsigned in triplicate to the Canadian Customs Officer.
Q: What is the average size deer harvested?
Hunters can expect to see bucks in the 130 to 160 gross B&C range. We do take deer in the 160 to 200 range every year.
Q: What is the success rate?
Our success rate normally runs approximately 75% to 85%.
Q: What should I tip my guide?
I think an appropriate tip is 10-15% of the price of your hunt for your guide, and $20-40 for the kitchen staff. Of course, this is just a guideline, and you should leave what you feel is appropriate.

Q: Where do we stay?

Two hunters share a room with shower, telephone and TV. We meet for a quick coffee and muffin before we head out for our morning hunt, upon our return, the kitchen staff will prepare us brunch and a hearty buffet dinner after the day of hunting. The motel has an attached tavern which we occasionally frequent for refreshments and the trading of hunting stories.
Q: What is the hunting method?
We hunt geese in the morning and ducks in the afternoon. We hunt 99% in dry fields out of coffin style blinds over decoys. Occasionally we hunt ducks around small “potholes.”
Q: How far in advance do I have to book a hunt?

We take groups of 4 to 7 hunters.
Q: Do we need to bring shells?
Most hunters do not bring shells due to the weight therefore I have shells that can be purchased by the hunters.
Q: Can I bring my hunting dog?
You are welcome to bring your dog though it is not necessary due to us hunting 99% in dry fields.

Q: What kinds of geese and ducks are available to hunt?
Our area supports a large population of Greater Canadas, with heavy migrations of Lesser Canadas, Speckled Bellies, Snows and Ross’ Geese. The ducks we hunt are 90% Mallards with a few Pintails and Widgeons.
Q: What is the success rate?
You can expect to shoot your limit or close too daily. Shooting your limit of ducks and geese in a single morning is not uncommon.
